Join CSF for a conversation with Nathan Fabian, Chief Sustainable Systems Officer at the UN-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), to hear a global perspective on the role of taxonomies in global capital markets and the latest investor sentiment shaping sustainable finance.

Interviewed by Jessica Desmond, Head of Taxonomy at the Centre for Sustainable Finance, Nathan will explore how taxonomies are influencing capital allocation, where they are not, and what this means for New Zealand’s taxonomy.

The discussion comes as CSF nears completion of the NZ Taxonomy, with agriculture and forestry, energy, and construction and buildings sector criteria expected to be finalised by the end of this year.

Nathan Fabián – Chief Policy and Research Officer, Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI)

Nathan leads Sustainable Systems at the PRI and developed the PRI’s Sustainable Financial System Programme. He was Chair of the EU Platform on Sustainable Finance that developed the EU Taxonomy and advises on sustainable finance regulation. He was in the EU High Level Expert Group on Sustainable Finance and various other expert groups in the EU and UK. These roles are part of twenty years work in sustainable finance in government policy, investment research and ratings on companies, and the development of investment processes and tools. Nathan was educated in International Relations, Business Administration and Ethics & Leadership.

Jessica Desmond – Head of Taxonomy, Centre for Sustainable Finance: Toitū Tahua (CSF)

Jess has spent most of the past two decades leading campaigns and communications across both the public and private sectors. Jess leads CSF’s work to steward the development of sector specific sustainable finance taxonomies. Prior to joining CSF Jess led an international campaigning innovation lab for Greenpeace, and previously managed communications for The B Team; enabling the advocacy of a global collective of business and civic leaders across climate change, governance and transparency and human rights issues. Jess graduated as the Senior Scholar in both her degrees in commerce and psychology, from the University of Auckland.
