Learning Objectives:

This webinar will provide health professionals with practical strategies to navigate the legal and clinical landscapes of supporting the older person’s end‑of‑life care needs at home. Using a case study, our expert panel will discuss: 

  1. End-of-life care Pathway
  2. Decision-making capacity and consent 
  3. Family conflict and disputes in the older person’s care 
  4. Allied health’s role in end-of-life care.

Penny Neller, Project Manager, End of Life Law for Clinicians

Penny is a lawyer with expertise in end-of-life decision-making law. She is based at the Australian Centre for Health Law Research, QUT, where she also manages the End of Life Law for Clinicians training program, co-authors the website End of Life Law in Australia and develops the ELDAC End of Life Law Toolkit.

 

Olivia Farrer, Senior Research Fellow, ELDAC

Olivia Farrer is a dietitian, Senior Research Fellow with RePaDD, and Project Lead for the national ELDAC Allied Health Toolkit. She specialises in translating evidence into practice to strengthen palliative care capability across allied health. Olivia’s work integrates clinical expertise, research leadership, and sector-wide education to drive impactful change. 

 

Fran Gore, Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Consultant, Mercy Health

Fran is a Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Consultant with Mercy Health Aged and Community Care. She has worked in home and community palliative care since 1984 and holds postgraduate certificates in Palliative Care, Leadership, and Catholic Culture. She is dedicated to honouring the end-of-life wishes of the person and providing education on goals of care, advance care planning, and symptom management.
