About the Webinar
The Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) will host a community information session, to share information on the Australian Submarine Agency's (ASA) application for a construction licence for a Prescribed Radiation Facility known as the Controlled Industrial Facility (CIF).
The session will include presentations outlining the new facility, ARPANSA's licence and regulatory processes and the opportunity to ask questions.
The CEO of ARPANSA has given notice she intends to make a decision under section 32 of the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Act 1998 regarding ASA's application for the facility licence.
Licence application details:
Applicant name: Australian Submarine Agency (ASA)
Name of facility: Controlled Industrial Facility
Type of facility: Prescribed Radiation Facility
Proposed location: HMAS Stirling, at Garden Island, Rockingham WA
Application type: Authorisation to construct a controlled facility.
ARPANSA’s role is to ensure people and the environment are protected from the harmful effects of radiation through effective regulation.
We will not approve a licence unless it meets the requirements of the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Act and Regulations and is in line with international best practice for radioactive waste management.
Have your say
If you have interests or concerns about the effects of radiation from this proposed facility on people or the environment, you’re invited to make a submission.
